You're invited to Crime With Wine Vol.1 featuring Holly Craig, Deb Jordan and Alexander Thorpe.
Come, sit, sip your wine and be entertained at the first Books in the Brewery celebration of crime fiction featuring three of WA's brightest talents.
Led by host Amanda Walsh, our guest authors will be discussing their new books and all things crime - favourite detectives (mine's Titus Welliver as Bosch, just saying), must watch TV (Dept. Q. anyone?), inspiration for their novels, writing insights, and best way to murder somebody (on the page, honest!) followed by the opportunity for audience questions and book signings thanks to the incomparable team at Boundless Books.
Throughout the night our authors will be invited to read to you, something of their own and something from one of their favourite writers.
We have two ticket options for this event. There's a $7 ticket which will get you in the door & a $15 ticket which includes entry and a drink on arrival.
Approximate times:
6pm - Doors open
6.45pm - Panel discussion & readings
8.15pm - Book sales, signings, photo opportunities
Seating will be cabaret style at tables. Dinner service will be available from the bar.
Books will also be available for purchase & signing on the night.
We hope to see you there!
About the panellists:
Holly Craig
Holly Craig lives on the Western Australian coast. She spent her childhood on boats and on Rottnest Island, inspiring her novels Mayday, The Rip, and her first #1 bestselling novel, The Shallows. The beach and river were her playground and have shaped the settings in her novels.
Holly is the creator of Australia's biggest writing community - THE WRITE CLUB - a group of 130+ writers. Holly teaches writing courses, creates masterclasses with industry professionals, runs writing retreats and prepares writers for publication.
You can find out more about Holly on Instagram, Facebook and Instagram (@hollycraigauthor), Facebook: (@hollycraigauthor)
Deb Jordan
Deb Jordan is a pianist, primary school teacher and pretend athlete. Perth, Western Australia is now home after twenty years abroad spent evading kidnap attempts in Peru, serenading African presidents, escaping a marriage trade in Ghana (her husband was tempted when the price was ten chickens and three goats…) and circling jungle volcanoes in Costa Rica.
She speaks Spanish fluently enough to be competently dangerous and likes to use her piano skills to keep the neighbours at bay. Who are, for the record, all extremely delightful. With degrees in Japanese and Russian, she dreamt of secret spy missions and international assignments. Or assignations. Semantics. Observing people, collecting ideas and always looking for the fun and adventure in life is what Deb does best.
And writing. Above all else, she writes.
Alexander Thorpe
Alexander Thorpe is from Fremantle, Western Australia. He has written advertising copy for pool cleaners and concrete supply companies, taught English in Joseph Stalin’s hometown and almost managed to read half of James Joyce’s Ulysses twice (which is more or less the same as having almost managed to read the whole book). Alex has written for news outlets, travel journals, marketing companies and educational providers. Death Leaves the Station was his first novel, its sequel Death Holds the Key has been shortlisted for the 2025 Western Australian Premier's Book Awards for Fiction Book of the Year.
