Boundless Books in partnership with City of Vincent Library brings you a conversation between two parenting gurus: paediatric physiotherapist Nicole Pates and author, educator and podcaster Maggie Dent.
Together they'll introduce Nicole's new book, Purposeful Play: From Birth to Walking, which features simple, fun, research-backed ways to play with newborns, rollers, crawlers, and toddlers. With over 100 stage-based ideas, most which need nothing more than household items and some floor space, Nicole’s book will empower parents and carers to engage and connect with babies in fun, rich and meaningful play.
They'll also be discussing Maggie's latest book, Digital Freedom: a guide to less screen time for safer, happier and healthier families. Parents and educators face a genuine contradiction when it comes to screen time. It's both an essential part of modern life and a leading cause of harm and mental illness. How do we protect our young people while also giving them the tools to succeed. Addressing when and how to give kids a smart phone, how algorithms and digital footprints work, privacy and safety on social media, and much more.

About Nicole Pates
Nicole is a Titled APA Paediatric Physiotherapist with a Master’s in Paediatric Physiotherapy and currently serves as Chair of the Australian Physiotherapy Association’s National Paediatric Group. She’s a passionate advocate for children’s health and wellbeing. She contributes her expertise to both national and international advisory panels, including the Healthy Digital Child Expert Advisory Panel, the Autism Health Roadmap, and the Ehlers-Danlos Society’s Paediatrics International Consortium. Nicole is also a sought-after speaker at physiotherapy and paediatric health conferences.
